What sort of people join toastmasters?

We are a community club, and so we accept membership applications from a wide range of people, including students, entrepreneurs, professionals, executives and creatives.

The one thing we all have in common is a shared desire to help one another become better communicators, speakers and leaders and to enjoy ourselves in the process!

Our membership is almost 50% female:50% male, and our age range varies from early 20’s to early 60’s.

How much does membership cost?

We are a not-for profit  organisation, so membership currently costs just £10 a month (plus a one-off joining fee of £25). Dues are payable in two six-monthly blocks. This modest sum gives you access to two meetings a month plus the Pathways online education programme; and a  monthly Toastmasters Magazine.

Do I have to attend every meeting?

No. We do meet twice a month, but you can come to as many or as few meetings as you want. Of course, the more sessions you attend and participate in, the faster your skills will develop.

Do I have to wear a red Jacket?

No! – In the UK, the word Toastmaster is often associated with the red-coated master of ceremonies seen at weddings and other formal functions. This has nothing to do with Toastmasters.
